Paris bursts to life with spring blossoms in April, and Parisians head outdoors to enjoy the parks and gardens and to soak up the sun at a café. Enjoy the warmer weather while cheering on the runners in the Paris Marathon, stroll through the park on the way to check out a spring art exhibition, or take the family to the Foire du Trone fair that brings the rides, carousels and fun of a country fair to Paris. Paris Marathon

Runners, lace up your shoes for the 40th Paris Marathon, which will take over the streets of Paris on Sunday, April 3, 2016. The route offers plenty of fine sights along the way as it passes through the Place de la Concorde, along the Tuileries, around Place de la Bastille, down to the beautiful Bois de Vincennes, along the Seine past Notre-Dame and the Eiffel Tower, through the Bois de Boulogne and to the finish line near the Arc de Triomphe. What a triumph indeed!

Concerts at the Musée d’Orsay – Apollinaire Musicians
19 April – 24 May 2016
The Musée d’Orsay isn’t just home to an excellent art collection, but is also a great spot for concerts. The museum will host a series of springtime concerts to coincide with the opening of the 2016 exhibition’ Apollinaire, the Eyes of the Poet. These concerts will centre around the works of French composer Francis Poulenc, who was inspired by lyrical quality of Guillaume Apollinaire’s poetry and set some of his verses to music.

International Rare Book & Autograph Fair
22-24 April 2016
Held in the Grand Palais, this annual book fair is an excellent event for all lovers of the written word. Rare and antique books are on sale alongside documents featuring the most elegant of Parisian handwriting. Amongst this literary treasure trove you may also come across rare prints, autographs and manuscripts.

Galloping Sundays
Sundays throughout April and May 2016
Spend a day at the races where there is something for the whole family to enjoy. Kids can take part in the treasure hunt and ride the beautiful carousel while adults will enjoy the fine cuisine of the restaurants and the excitement of the races that have entertained Parisians for centuries. For the more adventurous there’s even a horse-racing simulator to provide a fun challenge. Entrance is free for those under 18, with tickets starting at €5 for adults.

Foire du Trone
Dates to be announced for 2016
The Foire du Trone is a massive fun fair with a history dating back to the 12th century. Now one of Europe’s largest temporary fun fairs, the Foire du Trone draws about five million visitors every year. Located in Pelouse de Reuilly in the Bois de Vincennes park southeast of central Paris, the fair has rides, live entertainment, circus shows and lots of unexpected fun.
