Hurricane update for members and guests.
Below is an update on the impact from the hurricanes and our plans for the locations and homes affected.
We are relieved to report that all of our staff and their families and guests safely weathered these powerful storms without injury. However, there was significant flooding and damage throughout the Caribbean and Florida. Here is a summary of that impact for each of the club’s locations and homes:
Canouan Island and our home there were not impacted at all by these storms.
We are pleased to report that our homes in Amelia Island, Naples, and Turks & Caicos all weathered the storms remarkably well, with minimal issues or damage that we expect will be addressed within the next two to four weeks. Similarly, we expect these destinations, while experiencing wind and water-related damages and power outages from this storm, to recover quickly. Nearly all services are already available now on Amelia Island, and most restaurants and other services are expected to be available in Naples and on Turks & Caicos by early October.
Sadly, Mango Hill in St. Croix sustained significant damage. We are looking at an extensive rebuild which may take almost a year given the shortage of materials and labor now.
Unfortunately, St. Thomas and St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands and St. Barts all experienced extensive island-wide damage, which will take several months for significant recovery. We have not yet determined the full extent of the damage to the homes or the time needed for repairs in these locations.
Given the above, the club is making the following changes in reservation and cancellation policies:
- Amelia Island and Canouan: No changes – homes are available for reservations now. No changes to cancellation policies.
- Naples and Turks & Caicos homes: Reservations are being accepted from October 5, 2017 forward. The club’s normal 130-day cancellation window is being waived for existing reservations in October and November.
- St Croix: Mango Hill will be unavailable until further notice.
- St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Barts homes: The homes will be unavailable at least through December 31, 2017. We will update the status of these homes for 2018 as soon as we have more information. The Club’s normal 130-day cancellation window for these three locations is waived until further notice.
